  75. Crossdown for Windows brings all the challenge and enjoyment of solving
  76. and constructing crosswords exactly like the ones found in the daily or
  77. Sunday newspapers to the Microsoft Windows environment, and has added

  113. ===== Installation =====================================
  114.  
  115. Because Crossdown is a Windows application, the installation procedure
  116. is quite simple.  The package includes the file, "SETUP.EXE", which
  117. automates the entire process.  You will need about 2MB of available disk
  118. space on the hard drive on which you plan to install Crossdown.
  119.  
  120. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  121. Crossdown.
  122.  
  123. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTE
  124.  
  125. To install from diskette, you need to perform the following steps.
  126.  
  127.    o  Place Crossdown distribution diskette in the appropriate
  128.       diskette drive.
  129.  
  130.    o  From the Windows Main Menu, select FILE, then select RUN.
  131.       In the Command Line box, type the drive letter containing
  132.       the distribution disk followed by "SETUP.EXE." For example,
  133.       if the distribution disk is in drive A, type "A:SETUP.EXE."
  134.  
  135.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  136.  
  137. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  138.  
  139. If you downloaded Crossdown from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  140. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  141. following steps.
  142.  
  143.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  144.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  145.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  146.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  147.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  148.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  149.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  150.       the package.
  151.  
  152.    o  From the Windows Main Menu, select FILE, then select RUN.
  153.       In the Command Line box, type the pathname of the temporary
  154.       directory containing the Crossdown files followed by
  155.       "SETUP.EXE." For example, if the temporary directory is
  156.       C:\TEMPDIR, type "C:\TEMPDIR\SETUP.EXE."

  158.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.

  160. When you're satisfied that the installation was successful, you should
  161. delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed Crossdown
  162. (C:\TEMPDIR, in the above discussion), including all its contents.

  166. Once you've completed the installation, you can launch Crossdown from
  167. the Windows desktop by double-clicking on its icon.
